Bad news for our colleagues in New York: SUNY-Albany has announced cuts in French, Russian, Italian, Classics, and Theatre.

Perlman Speaks Out For Academic Freedom

UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman had a "Local View" article published in the Lincoln Journal Star in response to a complaint by members the Tribal Council of the Omaha Nation regarding the research and teaching of UNL Prof. Mark Awakuni-Swetland.

Dana College to Close

Dana College, which had been struggling financially, announced this spring that it was in negotiations for sale to a for-profit corporation. This summer, the Higher Learning Commission informed the College that the HLC would not renew Dana's accreditation if the sale were to go through. Dana has therefore announced its closure.

Thanks to an amendment introduced by NU Regent Tim Clare, the Articles of Incorporation for UNL's Innovation Campus now specify that faculty have a formal voice on an advisory board.
